Khao Kho

From Si Thep we then made a bee line for Khao Kho.  It’s pretty straight forward.  Head North along the Route 21 through Petchabun.  Turn left on to Route 2258 and head up towards Khao Kho.  It’s a nice ride up to the hills, the roads are nice at the bottom but as you make your way up to the top the quality of road deteriorates and at time writing there is a lot of road widening projects underway.

We rode up as the sun was setting so some good opportunities to take photos along the way and at the top.  After riding around a little we found a guest house to stop the night only 500 THB.  Clean, convenient and close enough to some restaurants.

Saturday 2nd April

Setting off early at 7am the next morning, we headed for a military museum that is at the top of the hills.  It’s quite clearly sign posted and has a narrow but quite steep road leading up to the tip.  We spent about and 40 minutes looking around before heading off.  It’s small and contains old derelict military helicopters and guns.  Worth a look for sure.

After that we set off down Khoa Kho along Route 2196 heading north until it meets the East-West road, Route 12.  This is a remarkably great road. Wide carriageway and long flowing fast bends.  A few twisty ones here and there but nothing a competent rider could not handle.  My GSA handles these very well while Alvin’s cruiser needed a bit slower pace, so I harried on and waited for him at the bottom. No off to Phimai Historical Park.
